Overview

A Scenic Alpine Trek Over Meadows, Mountains and Lakes. At over 5250 mts. Mt Shitidhar is a good peak to scale for first time mountaineers .The peak of shitidhar is accessible from its south face, a good approach to the peak but quite challenging. The base camp is set up at Beas Kund a lake which is the source of the river, The Trek to Beas Kund is one the most delightful treks in Western Himalaya, providing a very easy access into the mountain surroundings. From the summit one can have wonderful views of Hanuman Tibba, Indrasan and Deo Tibba.

Detailed Itinenary

Day 1

Arrival at Manali, Transfer to hotel. After breakfast cum lunch, walk to Old Manali Village, Hadimba Temple and Vashisht. Dinner at Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 2

Drive to Prini and further trek to the camp at Uchlung Bhiyali (3000Mts.). (6 Hrs.). Explore around. Overnight camp at Uchlung Bhiyali.

Day 3

Trek to the training area at Piyangniru (3500 Mts.) (5 Hrs.). First ascent to Marhi walk through the forest of Maple, pine, walnut. Then Further along the meadow to Marhi, splendid view of the Deo Tibba Mountain. Trek to Piyangniru along the stream involves mountainous surroundings. Reaching the camp at Piyangniru. Camp briefing and overnight at Camp.

Day 4

Days activities would start from introduction to the area and equipment then further, (Group I) Snow Craft - walking and balancing on snow on different gradients, sliding and self arrest, group arrest, plunging etc. Group II rock-climbing, rappelling, river crossing (monkey crawling, natural crossing etc.). After ground activities we spend time on discussing DO’S AND DONT’S in the mountains, knot practices, some team building games. Before dinner few minutes of isolation to reflect back on the day.

Day 5

Swapping the same activities as practiced on the first day

Day 6

Today’s activities would involve (GROUP I), cramponning (uphill and downhill on steep sections), climbing on steep section involving the use of ice axe and ice hammer and crampon, anchoring and belaying etc. (GROUP II) Glacier exploration - Walking and exploring the different sections (lateral Moraine, moraine, crevasses) etc.

Day 7

Swapping the same activities as practiced on the 3rd day

Day 8

(Group I) Climbing a peak involving the proper technique and using equipment with safety measures. Group II – search and rescue, involving Resuscitation use of stretcher. Lecture on High altitude sickness, medicines and use of hyper baric chamber.

Day 9

Swapping the same activities as practiced on the 5th day.

Day 10

Team Challenge: Involves overcoming a task oriented course which involve all the techniques and skills which are practices during all the above day’s.

Day 11

Trek back to Manali. (7 Hrs.) . Overnight in Hotel.
